After hours on google and bothering friends I’ve come up with an idea for my DGST395 Project (✿´‿`)

I think I’m going to make a game, specifically dealing with entrepreneurship. Ikr, that’s pretty random. But like I’ve always been interested in the whole “FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS” way of life.

For the game, a lot of my inspiration comes from long live the queen . In the game, you play as a princess and the goal is to make it to her queen ceremony thing. I’ve never beaten it, I keep getting her killed. Sob.

In my game’s case, I want to take more of a simulator approach. There will be a main character working towards opening her own tea shop. The goal will be to make it to opening day. Or maybe the first month? I’m not exactly sure of the details yet.

I do know you’ll be able to make choices that will determine your path. Do you go out with friends or stay home and save money for new furniture for the shop? Buy that expensive fine china or go with something simpler? I’m planning for many options and outcomes.

As for format of the game, again like long live the queen, I’m  interested in taking a visual novel approach. Everything will be illustrated. There will be music and possible voiced narration.

The main challenge in this project I’m expecting is actually the research behind opening a shop. I’m not really familiar with everything that small business owners have to go through. I want the game to be as accurate as possible, so I’m going to have to look up a good deal of stuff.

The creation of the game itself might be difficult as well. I’m familiar with creating games like this, but adding the RPG element is something new to me. What I really want to do is have a little status going for Health, Sleep, Money, etc. And like certain decisions will lower or increase them. I’m not exactly sure how I’ll go about this. There’s several game creation engines that I hear might be able to do this, but I need to really explore them.
